I visited my local Chick-fil-a for the first time today. While I have ordered from there in the past, someone from the office has always ran over to pick it up.
I wanted to see for myself, this place in the news so much over the last week. Several days ago, I head the owner had "gone on record" as being opposed to "gay marriage". I have heard this was a busy store from my coworkers who normally pick up lunch, so I wanted to see if the proposed boycott from left-wing extremists, LGBT's, atheists, etc... would have an impact on customer volume...?
Not only could I not pull into the parking lot (because it was overflowing), I could not pull on to the same street. I had to park around the corner and walk to the store. I asked the gentleman at the counter who took my order if this was a busy day for them. He said, "we are normally busy at lunch, but this is crazy".
I guess the boycott has not had its expected impact at this point. I think I will frequent the business now more than ever, and keep up the effort over the long haul. I expect others will do the same. It warms my heart to see this organization stand up for what it believes. But hey, if you don't like it, don't go there. This is one of the beautiful aspects of the USA. Freedom of choice.
